Doha: The Shura Council held its routine weekly sitting on Monday, chaired by HE the Speaker Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, at the Tamim bin Hamad Hall at the legislature's premises. During the session, a government bill on lost property and unclaimed money was read and subsequently referred to the Internal and External Affairs Committee for further review.
According to Qatar News Agency, another government bill proposing amendments to certain provisions of Law No. (7) of 2021 concerning the Shura Council was also presented. This bill was referred to the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee for scrutiny. Additionally, lawmakers approved five requests to extend the mandate of the legislature's standing committees to finalize reviews on previously referred bills.
The agenda also included a presentation of reports on the Shura Council's participation in regional and international parliamentary events. At the conclusion of the sitting, HE the Speaker briefed members on his recent visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which took place on Tuesday and Wednesday (April 22-23). The visit aimed to bolster cooperation and coordination between the Shura Councils of the two nations, highlighting the deep and strong ties that unite them.
HE Al Ghanim remarked that the meetings during the visit underscored the depth of bilateral relations and their continuous development under the guidance of the nations' leaderships. He emphasized that parliamentary cooperation between the Shura Councils of the two countries is a vital aspect of bilateral relations. This cooperation reflects a commitment to institutional and legislative development, meeting the aspirations of both peoples and enhancing the important role of Gulf parliaments in supporting joint Gulf action.
