Shura Council Highlights Legislative Achievements and Government Cooperation

Siena:The Speaker of the Shura Council, Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, detailed the Council's focus on legislative development, emphasizing the importance of enhancing the legislative system.

According to Qatar News Agency, over the course of the previous session, the Shura Council conducted 37 ordinary sessions and 81 committee meetings. During these meetings, the Council reviewed and approved 23 draft laws submitted by the government and proposed new legislation on digital child protection. This proposal was prompted by the increasing use of digital platforms by children and the associated risks, such as data privacy issues and cyberbullying, necessitating updated legislative measures.

In addition to legislative reviews, the Council assessed the State of Qatar's general budget ahead of each fiscal year. The Council also facilitated hearings with ministers, officials, and experts to thoroughly examine the draft laws and topics under discussion.

The Speaker praised the productive cooperation between the Shura Council and the government, noting the collaborative efforts in addressing national issues. This relationship, characterized by effective communication between the Council's General Secretariat and the Cabinet, reflects the directives of the leadership and aims to serve the national interest.

The Shura Council aims to continue fostering this cooperation, striving to achieve shared goals and address matters that benefit the nation and its citizens.
