Doha: The Shura Council convened on Monday for its routine weekly session at its headquarters, presided over by HE Speaker Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim. The session began with the agenda being read out by HE Secretary-General of the Council Nayef bin Mohammed Al Mahmoud, and the minutes of the previous session were endorsed.
According to Qatar News Agency, the council discussed a bill submitted by the government aimed at improving animal welfare enforcement. The decision was made to refer this bill to the Health, General Services, and the Environment Committee for detailed examination, with a report expected to be submitted to the council subsequently.
The council also reviewed a report from the Health, General Services, and the Environment Committee concerning its advisory recommendation on agricultural support mechanisms for domestic farms. These mechanisms are intended to enhance food security, and the council made a decision based on the committee's opinion.
Moreover, the council approved extensions for the Social Affairs, Labor and Housing Committee and the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee. The former will continue to deliberate on a public debate about the role of parents in child upbringing, while the latter will further consider a bill regarding Owners' Association.
The council also followed up on its international engagements, reviewing reports on its delegation's visit to the Swiss Federal Assembly in Bern and the UN headquarters in Geneva. Additionally, it considered its participation in the Second Parliamentary Conference on Interfaith Dialogue held in Rome, Italy, in June 2025.
