Sheikh Faisal Highlights Qatar’s Business Advancements and Investment Growth

Doha: Sheikh Faisal, Minister of Commerce, emphasized the Ministry's dedication to enhancing digital transformation and improving electronic services to bolster Qatar's business environment and attract both domestic and foreign investments.

According to Qatar News Agency, Sheikh Faisal highlighted significant developments in the Single Window (SW) platform, which introduced 13 new electronic services since early 2025 to streamline processes and make services more accessible to users. By the third quarter of the year, 72,500 transactions were processed, with 89% completed electronically, achieving a customer satisfaction rate of 94%. This reflects users' increasing trust in the platform.

Focusing on foreign investment attraction, Sheikh Faisal detailed efforts to enhance Qatar's market appeal to foreign investors, aligning with global best practices. In the first half of 2025, 2,911 foreign companies were established compared to 1,777 by the end of 2024, marking a 163% increase, indicating successful investment attraction strategies.

The commercial affairs sector also saw notable growth in 2025, with an 81.5% increase in main and branch commercial records compared to 2024. Active records rose by 18.1%, commercial licenses by 6.79%, and company establishment time reduced to two days. The Ministry introduced the "My Companies" service on the SW mobile app, a Voluntary Review Program for mergers and acquisitions, and integrated shipping activities into a single commercial registry.

Sheikh Faisal announced the introduction of a temporary commercial license service for Sealine area service providers, an updated Industrial Sector Guide, and a comprehensive trade name procedures guide. In consumer affairs, the Ministry intensified efforts to protect consumer rights, conducting 73,747 inspections in 2025 to ensure compliance with consumer protection laws.

Corporate procedures were streamlined through specialized licenses, with a 31% increase in licenses issued in 2025 compared to 2024, reducing issuance time to one day and minimizing processing time for pricing requests. Beneficiaries of supply services increased by 2.61%, showcasing improved Ministry service efficiency.

Regarding intellectual property, Sheikh Faisal revealed a partnership with Korea to develop a National Intellectual Property Strategy. Qatar submitted its accession to the Nice Classification for international trademark registration and launched Intellectual Property Clinics with the Qatar Research, Development and Innovation Council. Additionally, the Ministry issued the Industrial Property Gazette and activated industrial design registration services.

In 2025, Qatar registered approximately 7,464 trademarks, received 8,072 trademark filing requests, 277 copyright applications, 948 patent applications, and granted 164 patents, demonstrating a robust IP ecosystem. These achievements underline the Ministry's commitment to advancing the business climate, promoting entrepreneurship, empowering the private sector, and attracting foreign investments toward achieving QNV2030 objectives and a competitive economy.
