Saudi Fund for Development Commits $30 Million for Kulob Ring Road Project in Tajikistan

Dushanbe: CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al Marshad, signed a development loan agreement with the Minister of Finance of Tajikistan, Faiziddin Qahhorzoda, to finance the Kulob Ring Road Project valued at $30 million. The initiative is designed to improve traffic efficiency and safety through the construction of a road that includes two bridges. It aims to facilitate international movement by linking Central Asian countries with China and the Indian Ocean region via land transport, thereby ensuring the safe movement of goods and vehicles as well as promoting socio-economic growth.

According to Qatar News Agency, in a related event, the SFD CEO and Tajikistan's Deputy Finance Minister Yusuf Majidi participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for a secondary school in Danghara District. This school forms part of Phase V of a broader project to build and equip several secondary schools, funded by the SFD with $20 million. The current phase includes the construction of 11 schools, while the previous four phases have successfully established 57 schools across the country with a total investment of $75 million.

SFD has been operational in Tajikistan since 2002, financing 14 development projects and programs through concessional loans exceeding $323 million. These projects cover essential sectors aimed at improving the quality of life in the country.
