Doha: Saudi Arabia has welcomed an agreement signed in Muscat on Tuesday to exchange prisoners and detainees in Yemen, describing it as an important humanitarian step that could ease suffering and help build confidence between the parties.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Saudi foreign ministry praised Oman for hosting and facilitating the talks, which were held from December 9 to 23, and commended the efforts of the UN special envoy to Yemen, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and all parties involved.
The kingdom reaffirmed its support for initiatives aimed at achieving peace, security and stability in Yemen, in line with the aspirations of the Yemeni people.
