Doha: Saudi Arabia welcomed the findings of a new report by the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry, which documented evidence that Israeli occupation forces have committed acts of genocide against unarmed civilians in the Gaza Strip.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the report clearly demonstrates the crimes and violations being inflicted on the Palestinian people. The ministry reiterated the Kingdom’s call on the international community to take serious steps to enforce international resolutions, implement the two-state solution, and end the suffering of the Palestinian population.
The UN commission report concluded that since Oct. 7, 2023, Israel has carried out genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. The investigators found that Israeli forces committed four of the five acts of genocide defined in the 1948 Genocide Convention: killing members of the group, inflicting serious bodily or mental harm, deliberately creating living conditions intended to destroy the group in whole or in part, and imposing measures to prevent births, all accompanied by evidence of an intent to destroy the Palestinian people.
