S. Korean President: We Do Our Best to Reach Trade Agreement with US

New york: New South Korean President Lee Jae Myung affirmed his commitment to achieving positive and sustainable results in trade negotiations with the United States.

According to Qatar News Agency, President Lee said during a press conference that his country will do its best to achieve mutually beneficial results in the Korea-US trade negotiations, one of the most pressing issues, based on the principles of diplomacy that focuses on national interests.

South Korea is currently subject to a 10 percent tariff on its exports to the United States, which is set to rise to 25 percent next week unless an agreement is reached or a grace period is extended.

Seoul is seeking exemptions from US tariffs, including those affecting the auto and steel sectors, before July 9.
