Seoul, The South Korean army announced Tuesday that its soldiers fired warning shots after North Korean soldiers briefly crossed the border between the two Koreas.
In a statement broadcast by Yonhap news agency, the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff said that a group of North Korean forces crossed the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) within the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) separating the two Koreas in the central section of the border on Sunday.
“The South Korean army conducted a warning broadcast and fired warning shots, prompting the North Koreans to return to their side of the border. There was no unusual activity after the warning shots”, the statement added.
