Wonju: The South Korean and US air forces have commenced a four-day combined aerial exercise aimed at bolstering their joint operational capabilities, as announced by the South's Air Force. This exercise, known as the Buddy Squadron, started on Tuesday and will run until Friday at an air base located 87 kilometers southeast of Seoul.
According to Qatar News Agency, the exercise involves South Korea's FA-50 fighter jets, KA-1 light attack aircraft, and the US A-10 attack aircraft. The goal of these drills is to enhance the allies' teamwork through safety and security education, as well as training focused on close air support and surface combat patrol.
The Air Force has stated that the Buddy Squadron drills will mark the last exercise involving the US A-10 aircraft in South Korea, as the US Air Force plans to retire these planes this year as part of a modernization initiative.
