Doha: Russian scientists have developed an innovative method to obtain cells capable of regenerating the cornea after injury, which contributes to restoring its transparency. Experiments conducted on 64 mice at the Research Institute of Clinical and Experimental Lymphology showed that mice that received injections of corneal cells restored the thickness and transparency of the cornea within eight weeks.
According to Qatar News Agency, Head of the Cell Technology Laboratory Dr. Olga Poveshchenko said that this technology helps prevent fibrosis that may lead to blindness, noting future plans to continue research on new therapeutic models.
