Moscow: The Russian Ambassador to Qatar, Dmitry Dogadkin, emphasized the growing strength of Russian-Qatari relations, highlighting the shared values and cooperative efforts of both nations.
According to Qatar News Agency, the ambassador praised Qatar's leadership and diplomatic efforts, which contribute to bridging divisions internationally and ensuring regional and global security.
Ambassador Dogadkin noted that both Russia and Qatar are committed to a fair resolution of the Palestinian issue, supporting a two-state solution in line with UN resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative. He also reiterated the commitment of both countries to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria, offering support to its interim authorities for achieving stability.
The ambassador expressed gratitude for Qatar's balanced stance on the Ukrainian crisis, acknowledging Qatar's role in facilitating the reunification of children affected by the conflict. He also highlighted the robust cooperation between Russia and Qatar in energy, economy, and trade, particularly through the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), which aims to maintain stable gas prices globally.
Dogadkin mentioned the productive meeting of the Russian-Qatari Joint Committee on Trade, Economic, and Technical Cooperation held in Doha, where both sides agreed to diversify trade ties in various sectors, including renewable energy and healthcare. The ambassador expressed confidence in the continued growth of the Russian and Qatari economies, reflecting strong commercial ties.
Tourism was highlighted as a key area of exchange, with significant numbers of Qatari and Russian tourists visiting each other's countries. This exchange enhances cultural ties and confidence in the safety and hospitality of travel between the two nations. Discussions are ongoing about expanding direct flight routes to facilitate this exchange further.
In sports and culture, Russia remains committed to cooperation with Qatar, including organizing training camps for Russian football teams in Doha and planning cultural exchange events. The first Russian-Qatari Days of Culture is set to take place in Moscow by the end of the year, marking a new chapter in bilateral cultural relations.
