Doha: The Kremlin: President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with senior leadership, the presidential administration, and the cabinet on the eve of his upcoming summit with US President Donald Trump in Alaska.

According to Qatar News Agency, Putin briefed attendees on the progress of negotiations over the Ukraine crisis, as well as bilateral talks with the Ukrainian delegation.

He also reviewed Russia’s relations with the US, noting that Washington is making genuine and determined efforts to halt the fighting, resolve the crisis, reach agreements acceptable to all parties, and create conditions for lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine.

Putin added that the next stage of communications with the US could focus on the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty covering nuclear strategic offensive weapons.
