Doha: The Russian Ministry of Defense announced Saturday that its air defense systems destroyed 48 Ukrainian drones during the night.
According to Qatar News Agency, the ministry reported that 21 drones were destroyed over Tver region, 11 over Crimea, 5 over Bryansk region, 3 over Belgorod and Rostov regions, 2 over Smolensk and Lipetsk regions, and 1 over Kursk region.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials announced that Russian drones attacked a medical facility and other targets late on Friday in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, injuring at least five people. Governor of the region, Oleh Synehubov, said in a message on Telegram that eight Russian drones targeted civilian areas in three districts in the city center.
Mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov, reported that more than 50 people were evacuated from the medical facility, and emergency teams are controlling a fire that broke out as a result of the strike. In the port city of Odessa on the Black Sea, another frequent Russian target in southern Ukraine, a Russian drone attack caused fires at a private home and a company, resulting in one death and one injury.
Russia and Ukraine continue to announce daily the downing of drones targeting each other’s territories as part of the ongoing conflict that began in February 2022.
