Doha: The Russian Western Military District has taken over KucHerivka town in the Kharkiv region, with the "Center" Group of Forces taking control of Rivne town in the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine, the Russian Defense Ministry announced in a statement Sunday.

According to Qatar News Agency, the statement added that casualties inflicted by the Ukrainian military on the combat line in those areas surpassed 1,115 troops taken out, in addition to the destruction of military vehicles and a cyberwarfare station.

Over recent weeks, Russia declared that its forces had made a military breakthrough on combat fronts, capturing numerous new areas in eastern Ukraine.
