Red Cross Calls for Every Effort to Maintain Ceasefire in Gaza

Gaza: President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Mirjana Spoljaric, called on Sunday for “spare no effort” to maintain the ceasefire in Gaza and prevent pushing people back into despair.

According to Qatar News Agency, in a statement, Spoljaric emphasized that “every effort must be made to sustain the ceasefire in order to save lives from the ongoing fighting, allow humanitarian aid to enter Gaza, and reunite more families.” This comes after Israel’s decision on Sunday to halt the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza and close the crossings “until further notice.” The ceasefire agreement in Gaza came into effect in January following a bloody war launched by Israel against Gaza on October 7, 2023, which resulted in thousands of martyrs and injuries.
