Real madrid: Real Madrid defeated its host Espanyol, 2-0, in the 34th round of La Liga on Sunday, postponing Barcelona's title celebrations.
According to Qatar News Agency, Real Madrid owed its victory to the Brazilian forward Vinicius Junior, who scored both goals in the 55th and 66th minutes.
A draw or loss for Real Madrid would have crowned Barcelona champion, but the win lifted Madrid to 77 points in second place, 11 points behind the leader, with four rounds remaining.
Espanyol, meanwhile, suffered its 15th defeat of the season, alongside 10 wins and 9 draws, leaving it with 39 points in 13th place, just five points above the relegation zone. Sevilla occupies 18th place, the first relegation spot, with 34 points.
Elsewhere in the same round, Celta Vigo beat Elche 3-1, Rayo Vallecano defeated Getafe 2-0, and Real Betis won 3-0 against Real Oviedo. The round concludes on Monday with Sevilla hosting Real Sociedad.
