Qatari Publishing houses and authorities have presented a distinguished and diverse participation in the second Ramadan Book Fair, which takes place from March 30 until April 5 at Darb Al Saai in Umm Salal.
The book fair witnessed the participation of 31 Qatari entities and publishing houses and 48 publishing houses from 14 Arab and foreign countries. A wide range of books was presented at the exhibition with a focus on religious books in line with the nature and timing of the exhibition, in addition to cultural, literary, and intellectual books and children’s books.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency , Head of the Marketing and Sales Department at Qatar University Press (QU Press), Sheikha Sheikha Ahmed Al-Thani, expressed pleasure to participate in the second Ramadan Book Fair at Darb Al Saai in Umm Salal. She hailed the wonderful design of the exhibition that demonstrated the Qatari heritage.
She added that the exhibition provides the Qatari family with many Ramadan activities and events, in addition to selling books. A large number of publishing houses from inside and outside the State of Qatar participate in the book fair, which serves all segments of society and the family.
In turn, Director of Lusail University Press (LU Press) Murielle El Hajj Nahas said – in a similar statement to QNA – that the publishing house is still emerging and was inaugurated in March 2023 to publish specialized, teaching and reference books, and scientific journals that form a link between authors and readers through various fields of knowledge to advance and enrich global interaction. She pointed out that the publishing house would promote scientific research published in Arabic, which will be translated into English so that it can be recognized on a global level.
For her part, CEO of Rosa Publishing House Dr. Aisha Al Kuwari told QNA that this is the second participation for Rosa publishing house in Ramadan Book Fair with around 200 book editions. Rosa publishing house offers a variety of books that meet the needs of family members to promote general culture, including adult and young adult literature and various intellectual books. She noted that the focus has been on religious books and books related to children in general, as the dominant trend in the exhibition is the family atmosphere.
