QSE Index Opens Lower as Trading Begins

Doha: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) general index experienced a decline of 108.24 points, or 1.05%, at the start of trading on Thursday. The index fell to 10,162 points from the previous session's close, signaling a downward trend in the market.

According to Qatar News Agency, the figures from Qatar Stock Exchange revealed that the Insurance sector saw gains of 0.93%. However, other sectors such as Transportation, Telecoms, Real Estate, Industrials, Banks and Financial Services, and Consumer Goods and Services experienced declines. Transportation faced the most significant drop of 1.89%, followed by Telecoms at 1.69%, Real Estate at 1.38%, Industrials at 0.95%, Banks and Financial Services at 0.76%, and Consumer Goods and Services at 0.48%.

By 10:00 am, the trading turnover had reached QAR 65.172 million, with 36.718 million shares changing hands across 5,876 transactions, indicating an active trading session despite the overall decline in the index.
