QREC Unveils 2025-2026 Horse Racing Calendar

Doha: The Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC) has officially announced the program for the 2025-2026 horse racing season, which is scheduled to take place from October 2025 to April 2026. This initiative is part of QREC's broader strategy to establish Qatar as a premier hub for horse racing events, adhering to top international standards.

According to Qatar News Agency, the upcoming season will commence with the Al Ghariyah Cup on October 15, 2025, and conclude with the Season Final Trophy on April 16, 2026. Both events will be hosted at the Al Rayyan racecourse. The program is designed to foster the growth of equestrian sports and encourage a competitive spirit by featuring 70 races. These races encompass a range of grades and classifications and are open to participation from both purebred Arabian and thoroughbred horses, whether they are locally bred or sourced from international locations.

The 2025-2026 season is set to be particularly noteworthy due to the HH The Amir Sword Festival, a prestigious four-day event in February 2026. This festival is well-regarded for its outstanding organization and attracts significant public interest. Moreover, the season will include prominent races such as the Qatar Gold Sword and Trophy, the Qatar Derby, and the Late Sheikh Jassim Bin Mohammed Bin Thani Trophy. Additionally, internationally themed races will be featured, drawing attention from regional and global audiences.
