Doha: Qatar Research, Development, and Innovation (QRDI) Council has launched Innolight, also known as the Innovation Lighthouse, at the Web Summit Qatar 2025. Innolight is an online national platform designed to provide a seamless way to explore and access the resources, capabilities, and infrastructure within Qatar's innovation and research ecosystem.
According to Qatar News Agency, Innolight serves as an evolution of the QRDI Portal, aiming to be a hub where users can connect, collaborate, and create new opportunities together. Following the success of the launch, QRDI Council's Secretary General, Eng. Omar Al Ansari, participated in a panel discussion on "Bridging Borders: Building Collaborative Tech Ecosystems for Economic Growth." He expressed excitement about beginning Web Summit Qatar 2025 with the launch of Innolight, aligning with QRDI Council's strategic objective of advancing Qatar's innovation ecosystem and building worldwide partnerships.
This launch reflects QRDI's commitment to highlighting the achievements of the RDI sector while addressing new challenges and providing innovative solutions. By supporting Qatar's journey toward becoming a leading innovation-driven nation, Innolight aims to make a meaningful impact on both local and global communities, added Eng. Al Ansari.
Innolight introduces two new features designed to enhance engagement and support data-driven decision-making within Qatar's RDI landscape. The 'RDI Communities' section offers a collaborative space for professionals, institutions, and organizations to connect, fostering forward-thinking research and innovation. Additionally, the 'Insights' section provides dashboards, reports, and data-driven intelligence, equipping the RDI community with valuable information for informed decision-making.
The platform will continue to publish calls for innovation, research, and development opportunities, facilitating meaningful connections among stakeholders such as Hamad Bin Khalifa University, the National Museum of Qatar, the Qatar Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), and Qatar University to collaborate on addressing national challenges.
Senior Director of Policy Planning and Evaluation at QRDI Council, Nejoud Al Jehani, commented on Innolight's role in developing creative solutions to national challenges by supporting stakeholder connections and access to vital resources. Al Jehani noted that the initial launch of the QRDI Portal marked a significant step in driving and supporting RDI activities within Qatar. The rebranding to Innolight is expected to catalyze fresh ideas and groundbreaking solutions regionally and globally.
