Mesaieed: Under the patronage of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) is set to organize the 10th Disaster Management Camp (DMC-10) from February 3 to 11, 2026. The event, themed "Effective Preparedness and Better Response," will bring together representatives from various Qatari government organizations, NGOs, and 200 trainees from QRCS volunteers and Arab National Societies. Additionally, 100 trainers and administrative staff will participate.
According to Qatar News Agency, DMC was launched by QRCS in 2006 and has since become the leading disaster preparedness and response training event in Qatar and the region. The camp, held in Mesaieed (Sealine), is sponsored by QFFD, highlighting the strategic partnership between QRCS and QFFD in humanitarian, relief, and community activities both locally and internationally. This partnership aligns with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.
Building on the success of its previous editions, DMC-10 will offer a comprehensive list of lectures, training sessions, and scenario drills that simulate real-world humanitarian situations. This hands-on approach provides participants with unique knowledge and skills essential for disaster response and management.
At both individual and institutional levels, DMC serves as a crucial asset for community capacity-building. It enhances the abilities and skills of volunteers, facilitates the sharing of expertise among Movement partners, and strengthens coordination among Qatari organizations to manage unforeseen risks or disasters effectively.
The agenda of DMC-10 is divided into two main parts. The Specialized Training covers areas such as Emergency Shelter, Water and Sanitation, Food Security and Livelihoods, Emergency Health Care, Emergency Planning and Operations Room, and Field Assessment and Coordination. The General Training includes Media and Communication in Emergencies, Restoring Family Links (RFLs), Safer Access, Psychosocial Support (PSS), Disaster Management and Basic Humanitarian Standards, and Humanitarian Data Analysis.
Throughout the training, participants will face daily unannounced drills to test their learning and responsiveness. A large-scale field training exercise is planned one day before the closing ceremony to prepare for the final comprehensive scenario.
In addition to the training sessions, a humanitarian and social tent will be set up on the camp's sidelines to host trainees, school students, and the public. They will have the opportunity to attend informative lectures delivered by experts and VIPs on various topics related to humanitarian and social work.
