QRCS Launches Ramadan Iftar Projects to Aid Over 300,000 Beneficiaries in 17 Countries

Doha: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has initiated Ramadan Iftar projects under its 1447 AH 'Keep Your Balance of Good Deeds Alive' campaign. These efforts are being executed by QRCS's field teams through its offices and foreign representation missions, in partnership with national societies and implementing partners in the target countries.

According to Qatar News Agency, the projects involve distributing comprehensive food parcels, sufficient for a month, to more than 300,000 beneficiaries across 17 countries, including Palestine (Gaza Strip and the West Bank), Sudan, Syria, Somalia, Afghanistan, Chad, Tanzania, Djibouti, Yemen, Niger, Bangladesh, Lebanon, Jordan, Mauritania, Albania, Kazakhstan, and Uganda.

Within Qatar, QRCS's community care and development teams are carrying out several Ramadan projects and initiatives. These include Ramadan Iftar, Zakat Al-Mal, Stand Together, Joy of Eid, On-the-Go Iftar, and Hero Meals, benefiting an estimated 30,000 people, including expatriate workers, vulnerable families, delivery drivers, and the general public.

Assistant Secretary-General for Relief and International Development at QRCS, Mohamed Bader Al Sada, highlighted the significance of food security projects, stating that food security is a fundamental human need, especially in times of crises and disasters when secure households may lose their livelihoods. This loss poses a critical challenge to their health and lives.

Al Sada explained that QRCS prioritizes food security as a relief intervention to mitigate the impact of crises or disasters, helping affected people remain resilient and maintain their dignity. Alongside Ramadan Iftar projects, QRCS plans to implement 15 year-round food security projects, costing QAR 49,615,560, benefiting 781,236 people in 10 countries, including Syria, Yemen, Palestine (Gaza Strip and the West Bank), Somalia, Niger, Bangladesh, Jordan, Afghanistan, Sudan, and Lebanon.

These initiatives involve distributing food baskets and hot meals, supporting bakeries with flour, providing therapeutic food for children, and feeding residents of orphanages and elderly care homes. In 2025, QRCS implemented 70 food security projects at a cost of QAR 59,874,044, benefiting 2,839,511 people across 17 countries.
