The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) launched the 2nd phase of the food basket project, which delivers aid to the affected people in the Gaza Strip from Jordan by land.
The project is a collaboration between the QRCS and the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO), in coordination with the Jordan National Red Crescent Society (JNRCS).
HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Sheikh Saud bin Nasser bin Jassim Al-Thani participated in the inauguration of this phase, during which 24 trucks will transport about 12,000 food parcels from Jordan to the QRCS’s office in Gaza, which will then receive and distribute the food parcels to the affected families in displacement camps in several locations in the Strip.
Each parcel consists of food items sufficient for a family for one month, weighing approximately 30 kilograms each, including essential items such as rice, lentils, flour, oil, canned goods, among others.

rdan Sheikh Saud bin Nasser bin Jassim Al-Thani highlighted the significance of this project and the role of the entities involved, thanking Qatari humanitarian organizations operating in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for their continuous relief projects to reach out to those affected. Moreover, His Excellency expressed gratitude to partners JHCO and JNRCS, and all those who facilitated the work of Qatari humanitarian organizations in serving the mutual interest of both sisterly countries and enhancing security and stability in the region and the world.
Director of Relief and International Development Division at QRCS Mohamed Salah Ibrahim commended QRCS’s strong relationship with JHCO and JNRCS, facilitating the implementation of this project to help the affected people in Gaza.
Ibrahim noted that this project is only one of many projects being implemented since the start of the war on the Gaza Strip, delivering thousands of tons of food, medicine, water, and essential supplies in order to alleviate the
suffering of the people in the Strip.
In turn, Secretary-General of JHCO Hussein Shibli stated that relations with QRCS have developed over the years, which resulted in the launch of many joint food and relief projects, including this current cooperation, which comes in the context of constantly enhancing partnerships and cooperation with various humanitarian entities to achieve the ultimate goal of delivering aid and standing by the people in Gaza.
QRCS and JHCO had launched the 1st phase of this project on the second day of Eid Al Fitr, during which they distributed 3,296 food parcels to beneficiaries in Rafah and Deir Al Balah via QRCS’s Gaza office and its partners.
The total volume of parcels to be distributed is 23,500 the equivalent of 700 tons of food.
