Doha: HE President of the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), Yousef bin Ali Al Khater, has commended the volunteers who played a crucial role in organizing the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025. Their dedication and sincerity were instrumental in the success of the event, ensuring a smooth progression of matches and associated activities.
According to Qatar News Agency, the QRCS held a ceremony to honor these volunteers and partners, acknowledging their significant contributions to the tournament's success. The event highlighted the seamless collaboration between QRCS and various partners, including Maj. Ghanem Mohammed Al Hudaifi, Assistant Commander of the Operations Unit of the Safety and Security Operations Committee (SSOC), who participated in the exchange of honors with HE Al Khater.
Al Khater expressed a desire for QRCS's volunteerism model to expand globally, serving as a benchmark for community and humanitarian volunteer preparation. He also recognized the Ministry of Interior and the security committee for their confidence and cooperation, which played a vital role in achieving the event's success.
The ceremony underscored the volunteers' role in maintaining security and safety, as per the training provided by the security committee. Their responsibilities included organizing spectators, following security protocols, initial intervention in emergencies, and maintaining sanitation and order.
A highlight of the event was a performance by child volunteer Osama Khaled Abu Armilah, who sang a volunteering anthem. This was followed by the launch of the "Fursan Volunteering" project, announced by Hussein Aman Al Ali, Assistant Secretary-General for Volunteering and Local Development, and Sharifa Nasser Al Ruwahi, Head of the Volunteering Department at QRCS.
Al Ali emphasized the project's aim to expand volunteerism by involving children and students, with Osama being the first volunteer of the initiative. Al Khater and Al Ali honored various partners from the Special Security Services Organization Unit, volunteer team leaders, and the logistics and administrative teams for their exceptional contributions.
The participation of QRCS in the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 highlighted the importance of volunteerism in supporting national events, fostering a culture of community and engagement, and providing young people with valuable organizational and management experience.
The volunteer selection process included application reception, screening, oral examinations, and extensive training phases, which have so far resulted in a team of 3,700 volunteers. Specialized training from the Special Security Services Organization Unit equipped volunteers with essential skills in crowd management, security, and effective teamwork.
Volunteers received comprehensive training to ensure they could handle all aspects of organization, security, and safety during the event, reinforcing the critical role of volunteerism in the success of major sporting events in Qatar.
