QRCS Expands Global Ramadan Iftar Initiative with Extensive Meal Distribution


Doha: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) announced the continuation of its On-the-go Ramadan Iftar initiative, which takes place daily at Katara Cultural Village. This marks the third consecutive year of the initiative, carried out as part of QRCS’s Ramadan Campaign for 1447 AH under the theme “Keep Your Balance of Good Deeds Alive”.



According to Qatar News Agency, QRCS volunteers are actively distributing 350 Ramadan Iftar meals per day to visitors in the Ramadan Cannon area and to passing motorists during Iftar time. Over the course of the holy month, a total of 10,150 meals will be distributed.



QRCS also emphasized that its Ramadan Iftar projects are reaching those in need worldwide. In Gaza, 17,833 food parcels are being distributed to displaced families at a cost of USD 1,850,000. This initiative aims to support the resilience of the people of Gaza during Ramadan.



In Afghanistan, QRCS has partnered with the Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) to distribute food parcels in remote areas of Paktika and Zabul Provinces. A total of 764 parcels have been distributed in two districts, with plans to expand to additional areas, reaching a total of 1,164 parcels at a cost of QAR 700,000.



QRCS’s collaboration with Tanzania Red Cross Society (TRCS) resulted in the distribution of food parcels to 168 families in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. In Chad, QRCS worked with Organization Medicale Tchadienne (OMT) and the Red Cross of Chad to distribute food parcels to 160 families.



Preparations are also in progress for distributing 500 Ramadan food parcels via the Albanian Red Cross to assist 2,000 people in Albania. In Somalia, QRCS distributed 1,951 food parcels to support 10,806 individuals, including patients with respiratory diseases and persons with disabilities, at a cost of USD 184,931.
