QRCS and Qatar Press Center Sign MoU

The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Qatar Press Center, as a general framework to establish bilateral understanding, work together towards the common goals, and capitalize on each party’s respective resources and expertise, inspired by the pillars and priorities of Qatar National Vision 2030.

The MoU was signed by HE President of QRCS Yousef bin Ali Al Khater and HE Chairman of Qatar Press Center Saad bin Mohamed Al Rumaihi.

The MoU sets strengthening cooperation between both sides in the journalistic and humanitarian fields, exchanging knowledge and expertise, jointly organizing workshops and training for the employees of both institutions, and sharing information.

HE President of QRCS emphasized QRCS’s belief in the utmost importance of the media in the modern time, with their potential to support charitable, humanitarian, and volunteering organizations through promotion, fundraising, and trust building.

“This is exactly what our Qatari media and journalistic institutions do,” said Al Khater. “They have always been there to help QRCS in fundraising campaigns and publication of the news of its local and international operations”.

He thanked the leaders of Qatar Press Center for making this agreement a reality and looked forward to stronger cooperation, by enhancing QRCS’s visibility on the one hand, and providing health, relief, and volunteering training for journalists on the other.

For his part, HE Chairman of Qatar Press Center stated: “This understanding would strengthen the social role of Qatar Press Center and QRCS, serving as a model for cooperation among the country’s media and humanitarian organizations. We at Qatar Press Center seek to make the most out of QRCS’s humanitarian and media track record and enable journalists to benefit from its expertise, for the benefit of everyone. At the same time, all the resources of Qatar Press Center will be available for QRCS to use, towards our shared goals”.

Al Rumaihi revealed plans to hold a joint training workshop on “Media Coverage from a Humanitarian and Legal Perspective”. Presented by experts from QRCS, the event will be attended by many journalists working in Qatar.
