Doha: Qatar National Library (QNL) has announced the launch of a new Virtual Tour that aims to expand global access to its expansive offerings, providing a fully immersive digital experience for audiences around the world. This initiative allows users to navigate the library's spaces virtually, experiencing its various sections and facilities in fine detail.
According to Qatar News Agency, the tour can be accessed directly through any browser and offers high-resolution 360-degree panoramic views. This feature enables users to explore the Main Library, Heritage Library, Children's and Young Adults sections, exhibition halls, and study areas. The tour is enhanced with interactive hotspots, which are clickable icons that provide descriptions, multimedia content, and key service information in both Arabic and English.
The initiative underscores QNL's commitment to digital inclusion and accessibility. The virtual tour adheres to best practices in digital inclusivity, ensuring ease of navigation for users with different needs. It is designed to support individuals with visual impairments by being compatible with screen readers, offering high-contrast viewing options, and allowing for content magnification and zoom.
For users with motor disabilities, the tour can be navigated using a keyboard alone, thanks to a simplified interface that reduces complex interactions. The intuitive layout, featuring clear icons and descriptive labels, promotes cognitive accessibility. Additionally, all essential information is provided in text format to assist users with hearing challenges. The tour is designed to be compatible with assistive technologies across a range of devices, including desktops, tablets, and mobile phones.
