QM Chairperson Inaugurates “Changing Gates” Art Exhibition at Fire Station

Doha: HE Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Qatar Museums (QM) Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani has inaugurated the "Changing Gates" art exhibition at the Fire Station. Running until Dec. 31, 2025, the exhibition culminates the 9th Artist in Residence (AIR) Programme at the station, showcasing the artworks of 15 artists from various countries, including Qatar.

According to Qatar News Agency, the exhibition features artists such as Salha Al Subaie, Reem Al Shammari, Sarah Al Nuaimi, and others from Qatar, alongside international artists like Alaa Al Barazi from Syria and Alexandrine Gueran from France. The artworks reflect the artists' inspirations and the diverse materials they utilize, ranging from multimedia to metals and ceramics.

Reem Al Shammari shared that the AIR programme helped her integrate her expertise as a jewelry designer with her artistic interests. She created an obelisk using clay and other media, inspired by ancient civilizations. Her works blend heritage themes with contemporary techniques.

Similarly, Fatima Al Siddique praised the AIR experience for its collaborative environment. She exhibited five artworks and a mural inspired by her cultural heritage, celebrating traditions and colors through her art.

The exhibition is part of the "Changing Gates" events, an 18-month campaign honoring Qatar's cultural journey over the past 50 years since the National Museum of Qatar was established.
