QICCA Engages in Muscat Arbitration Days 2025 with Strategic MoU

Muscat: The Qatar International Center for Conciliation and Arbitration at Qatar Chamber (QICCA) actively participated in the "Muscat Arbitration Days 2025" conference. The event, organized by the Oman Commercial Arbitration Centre in the Omani capital, saw extensive involvement from a prominent assembly of experts and specialists in arbitration from GCC countries and the broader Arab world.

According to Qatar News Agency, the conference was a significant platform for dialogue and exchange, featuring QICCA's Vice-Chairman of the Board, Sheikh Dr. Thani bin Ali Al-Thani, as a key participant. During the second panel session titled "Stronger Together - Building a Unified Regional Arbitration Ecosystem," HE Sheikh Dr. Thani bin Ali Al-Thani elaborated on the development stages of arbitration in Qatar. He highlighted the critical importance of unifying efforts and sharing best practices among GCC arbitration centers to streamline policy adjustments and enhance the region's international reputation for resolving commercial disputes efficiently.

The session included notable contributions from representatives of the Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration, the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution, and the Commercial Arbitration Centre for the GCC. Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation among GCC arbitration centers to foster a cohesive and robust arbitration environment that aligns with the aspirations of business and investment communities throughout the region.

On the sidelines of the conference, an essential Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between QICCA and the Oman Commercial Arbitration Centre. This agreement aims to bolster collaboration in arbitration, conciliation, and dispute-resolution mechanisms, facilitating the exchange of expertise and knowledge. Additionally, the MoU seeks to jointly promote services, organize cooperative events, and conduct training programs, ultimately benefiting arbitration practitioners and users in both nations and across the region.

This MoU underscores the shared vision between the two centers and reinforces the leading role of GCC countries in establishing an integrated arbitration ecosystem. Such initiatives are crucial for supporting the business environment, keeping pace with global economic trends, and solidifying the region's status as a strategic hub for trade and investment.

The conference also delved into various arbitration topics, including maritime arbitration, arbitration in the oil and gas sector, insurance arbitration, and arbitration in finance and contracts. Furthermore, legislative developments, the role of arbitration institutions, and the future trajectory of arbitration amid digital transformation were discussed.
