QFFD Advances Humanitarian, Development Efforts Globally with QR 1.92 Billion

Doha: Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) has signed 16 strategic agreements worth QR 1.92 billion to support a wide range of humanitarian and development initiatives for more than 17 million individuals worldwide. The signing ceremony was attended by HE Chairman of the Board of Directors of QFFD Sheikh Thani bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, HE Minister of State for International Cooperation and Vice Chairperson of the Board of Directors of QFFD Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad, HE Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security of the Republic of Sierra Leone Dr. Theresa Tenneh Dick, officials from Bosnia and Herzegovina, representatives of embassies in Qatar, and representatives of United Nations organizations.

According to Qatar News Agency, the signing ceremony marked a major milestone in the State's global efforts to promote sustainable development and humanitarian aid initiatives. HE Minister of State for International Cooperation and Vice Chairperson of the Board of Directors of QFFD Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad emphasized that Qatar's efforts through the Qatar Development Fund reflect deep human values and represent real investment in people. She affirmed Qatar's role as an active partner in the global development process, prioritizing people.

At this event, the Fund partnered with local entities such as Qatar Foundation, Qatar Charity, Education Above All Foundation, and Qatar Red Crescent. International agreements were established with Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sierra Leone, alongside a Memorandum of Understanding with Rwanda.

Qatar Charity signed four agreements to assist 1,307,292 beneficiaries, including emergency assistance for the flood crisis in Niger and healthcare support at Bab Al-Hawa Hospital in Syria, among others. Education Above All Foundation signed two agreements targeting over 15 million children and youth, including a scholarship program for Afghan students.

Qatar Red Crescent signed six agreements affecting more than 294,487 beneficiaries, covering initiatives such as emergency support for the White Helmets in Syria and humanitarian aid in Guinea-Bissau. Additionally, an agreement was made for hosting the American University of Afghanistan in Qatar to benefit 73 students.

On a government level, QFFD signed memoranda of understanding with Bosnia and Herzegovina for water network rehabilitation, Rwanda for the "Zero-Out-of-School Children" program, and Sierra Leone for the African Multiplication Initiative, impacting thousands of beneficiaries.

This latest round of agreements underscores QFFD's commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Qatar National Vision 2030, reinforcing Qatar's dedication to aiding vulnerable communities globally.
