QFA Wraps Up Preparatory Camp for Elite Referees in Doha

Doha: The preparatory camp for elite referees concluded on Monday, ahead of the 2025-2026 football season. The 12-day camp featured rules examinations for referees to assess the overall level of each official and the extent of benefit gained throughout the camp, which included daily lectures on the laws of the game, as well as coaching sessions and panel discussions on evolving and controversial situations encountered during matches.

According to Qatar News Agency, a lecture was delivered on the "COMET" post-match reporting system, attended by specialists from the QFA's competitions department and the technical support division to clarify all aspects related to the program, in addition to facilitating its effective use by referees when preparing post-match coaching reports.

The closing camp day was punctuated by a coaching lecture held virtually with the engagement of FIFA's Director of Refereeing, Massimo Busacca, who praised the efforts undertaken by Qatari referees and wished them Godspeed in the new season.

Chairman of the QFA's Referees Committee, Hani Taleb Ballan, stated that the referees are braced for a powerful competitive season based on the realignments the Qatari league is witnessing. He urged them to double down on their efforts to remain at the best coaching, medical, and physical levels.

The refereeing system operates as one family for one goal, which is to advance Qatari refereeing and build on the gains that have been achieved recently. There is high confidence in Qatari referees and their capabilities to perform pretty well during the new season both at home and abroad, Ballan said in a press remark.

Doha Bank Stars League contests are slated for next Thursday.
