Doha: The Qatar Chamber (QC) has recently concluded a five-day training course entitled "Certified Compliance Expert in Accordance with FATF Standards", attracting specialists from various sectors across the State of Qatar.
According to Qatar News Agency, the course was delivered by financial expert Counselor Kamal Al Awrani. It addressed essential topics such as global compliance trends, measures for anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing, the latest RegTech technologies, and the application of artificial intelligence in monitoring activities.
The training program also featured practical workshops designed to enhance the professional competencies of participants, ensuring their skills are in line with both international standards and local legislation.
The FATF, based in Paris, is an international governmental organization dedicated to the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism. It plays a crucial role in setting international standards to prevent illicit activities and their potential societal harms.
Essentially, FATF has developed a set of recommendations that act as the global benchmark for combating money laundering, terrorist financing, and the proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). This establishes FATF as the cornerstone of a coordinated global response to organized crime, corruption, and terrorism.
