Qatar’s UN Envoy Highlights Security Concerns Amid Gulf Tensions

Geneva: HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the UN Office in Geneva, Dr. Hind Abdulrahman Al Muftah, participated in an event titled "Diplomacy and Security: Shaping Peace in a Fragmented World," held at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy. In her address, she emphasized the gravity of Iranian attacks on Gulf states, describing them as a serious escalation that violates national sovereignty and international law, with potential global repercussions.

According to Qatar News Agency, Dr. Al Muftah strongly condemned these attacks, particularly those targeting Qatari territory. She reiterated Qatar's commitment to remaining neutral in regional conflicts, while facilitating dialogue between Iran and the international community. Her Excellency highlighted that despite Qatar's condemnation of Israeli strikes on Iran, Iran's retaliatory actions against Qatar marked a troubling pattern of escalation that undermines regional stability.

Dr. Al Muftah warned that continued hostilities would only deepen the crisis, calling for a reassessment of regional security arrangements. She urged Gulf states to collaborate on creating a more effective collective security framework. Highlighting Qatar's diplomatic successes in polarized environments, she stressed the need for ongoing communication and the strengthening of multilateral institutions to ensure constructive engagement.

She concluded by underscoring the importance of human rights and security, advocating for an inclusive security framework that reflects current geopolitical realities and amplifies the voices of all nations.
