Doha: Qatari newspaper editorials have spotlighted Qatar's significant contributions in aiding the Syrian population through political, humanitarian, and relief efforts, as well as its role in advancing peace in Africa's Great Lakes region.
According to Qatar News Agency, recent editorials have emphasized the Qatar Fund for Development's (QFFD) announcement of the second phase of electricity support in Syria. This initiative has a capacity of 800 megawatts, marking a 40% daily improvement for over 5 million Syrian subscribers. Additionally, Qatar's involvement in the historic agreement between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda has been underscored as a key element in promoting peace in the region.
Al-Arab newspaper noted that Qatar was among the first nations to support the Syrian people and has maintained its assistance through various stages, leading to recovery and reconstruction. The newspaper highlighted the second phase of electricity support in Syria, aligned with HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's directives. This phase aims to enhance energy sustainability and increase electricity supply to five hours per day, significantly benefiting commercial areas, factories, and service sectors.
Further, Al-Arab detailed the commencement of natural gas flow from Azerbaijan to Syria, facilitated by Qatar, as a crucial step in ongoing support for Syrian reconstruction and stabilization. This initiative is seen as critical for revitalizing the Syrian economy and improving living conditions.
In addition, Al-Watan newspaper reported on the second phase of electricity support, which follows an initial phase of 400 megawatts that stabilized the electricity grid and bolstered Syria's industrial sector. The newspaper confirmed that the second phase began with Azerbaijani gas flowing through Turkey, funded by Qatar, to enhance electricity supply and power plant operations, ultimately benefiting the economic and living conditions in Syria.
