Qatar’s Participation Highlights Global Maritime Cooperation at Cyprus Conference

Limassol: A State of Qatar delegation, led by HE Minister of Transport Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al-Thani, is actively participating in the Maritime Cyprus 2025 Conference. The event was officially inaugurated by HE President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides and features attendance from Arab and foreign transportation and shipping ministers, as well as leaders from international organizations such as the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the EU, and the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS). Senior officials and decision-makers from the global maritime transportation industry are also participating.

According to Qatar News Agency, Qatar's representation at the conference underscores its commitment to fostering global maritime cooperation and supporting international efforts aimed at developing a sustainable global maritime transportation ecosystem. The Ministry of Transport (MOT) is spearheading initiatives and projects focused on enhancing national development across economic, environmental, and human sectors, aligning with the goals of Qatar NDS3, the MOT Strategy 2025-2030, and Qatar National Vision 2030.

The "Maritime Cyprus" Conference, organized biennially by the Shipping Deputy Ministry in cooperation with the Cyprus Shipping Chamber and the Cyprus Union of Shipowners, has become one of the most significant and well-attended shipping conferences since its inception in 1989. It attracts approximately 800 shipping executives globally and serves as a forum for discussing current issues relevant to international shipping, presented by distinguished speakers.

This year's conference theme, "Unlocking the Future of Shipping," focuses on addressing the challenges and opportunities within the maritime industry. Key topics under discussion include regulatory developments, energy transition, digitalization, financing strategies, environmental sustainability, and crew welfare.
