Qatar’s Initiatives in Digital Economy and Support for UNRWA Highlighted in Newspaper Editorials


Doha: In their editorials on Sunday, Qatari newspapers addressed a range of topics, focusing on the initiatives recently launched by the State of Qatar in the fields of innovation and digital economy. These initiatives have positioned Qatar as a leader in digital transformation and sustainable development in the region across all sectors and levels.



According to Qatar News Agency, the newspapers also emphasized Qatar’s ongoing political, diplomatic, and financial support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). This agency is seen as crucial in addressing the urgent humanitarian needs of the Palestinian people. Additionally, the newspapers noted the harsh humanitarian conditions faced by displaced Palestinians as they observed the first nights of Ramadan.



In its editorial, Al-Raya highlighted the numerous achievements and initiatives by Qatar in innovation and digital economy, marking it as a leader in digital transformation in the region. The editorial mentioned Qatar’s efforts to develop its information and communication technology systems, which align with the Qatar National Vision 2030. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has launched two experimental initiatives, AI Sandbox and XR Sandbox, within the TASMU Innovation Lab, unveiled during Web Summit Qatar 2025. These initiatives aim to foster technological advancement and innovation in Qatar’s digital entrepreneurship ecosystem.



On the Arab front, Al-Sharq newspaper focused on Qatar’s continued support for UNRWA, noting the country’s submission of a written memorandum to the International Court of Justice regarding UN General Assembly resolution 79/232. The memorandum emphasizes Israel’s obligation to allow the UN and other international organizations, particularly UNRWA, to operate in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories. It also stresses the importance of protecting the property and personnel of these organizations, especially those in humanitarian and medical fields.



The newspaper concluded by affirming Qatar’s leadership and support in confronting the Israeli campaign targeting the work of the United Nations and other international humanitarian organizations.
