Qatar’s Envoy to UN Discusses Strategic Initiatives with UNGA President

New york: HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani held a meeting with HE President of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly Annalena Baerbock at the UN headquarters in New York.

According to Qatar News Agency, during their discussion, the President of the General Assembly expressed appreciation for Qatar's active role in supporting United Nations efforts. She commended Qatar's commitment to hosting the high-level meeting for the mid-term review of the Doha Programme of Action for the Least Developed Countries (2022-2031), scheduled for March 2027. This event is considered significant for advancing international commitments towards aiding the least developed countries.

HE the Permanent Representative affirmed Qatar's dedication to supporting the President of the General Assembly's efforts in promoting multilateral action. She emphasized the importance of the upcoming high-level meeting in Doha as a critical opportunity to assess progress, strengthen the core outcomes of the Doha Programme of Action, and transform political commitments into practical actions.
