Doha: In their editorials on Wednesday, Qatari newspapers focused on various topics, highlighting the Shura Council's hosting of the meetings of the Standing Committee on Budget and Planning of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, alongside Qatar's continued support for vital sectors in vulnerable communities, particularly in education, healthcare, and the empowerment of vulnerable groups.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Sharq newspaper noted that the Shura Council, under the patronage of HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, hosted the meetings with over 100 parliamentarians from member states participating. The meeting is seen as crucial for enabling the Asian Parliamentary Assembly to enhance Asian cooperation amid increasing regional and international challenges. It also aims to improve financial planning efficiency and reinforce transparency, accountability, good governance, and resource management. The newspaper emphasized the Shura Council's active role in international forums, enhancing Qatar's standing globally.
Al-Raya newspaper, on the other hand, affirmed Qatar's commitment to promoting and protecting children's rights, highlighting the country's progress through legislative and executive measures in line with the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The State has enacted numerous legislations and taken practical measures to align with Qatar National Vision 2030 and its international commitments. A key initiative is the Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (AMAN), aimed at raising awareness and building institutional capacities in child protection.
The newspaper further highlighted Qatar's participation in the international conference on Protecting Children in Digital Environments held in Baku, Azerbaijan. In its efforts to combat digital risks to children, Qatar has established the Center for Combating Cybercrime, strengthened relevant legislation, and launched the "Safe Space" website to educate children and adolescents about digital safety.
