Doha: Qatari newspapers focused on two significant topics in their Monday editorials, emphasizing Qatar's strategic role in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry and the regional opposition to Israeli plans in Gaza. Qatar's effective utilization of its natural resources has reinforced its leadership in the LNG sector, benefiting both current and future generations while contributing to global energy market stability.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Raya newspaper highlighted Qatar's global leadership in clean energy as a leading LNG exporter. Qatar is expanding gas fields and increasing production to meet rising demand, with the first phase of the North Field East (NFE) expansion project set to begin LNG exports by mid-2026. Al-Raya noted that these strategic projects enhance Qatar's revenues and ensure energy market stability.
Al-Arab newspaper also discussed Qatar's ambitious plan to expand the NFE field, aiming to double LNG production capacity from 77 million tons per year to 110 million tons by 2026, and further to 126 million tons by 2027 with the North Field South expansion. By 2030, Qatar plans to achieve a production capacity of 142 million tons annually, reflecting the growing global demand for clean energy.
While global powers navigate a multipolar world, energy remains a key tool of balance and influence. Qatar, through smart investments exceeding $45 billion in infrastructure, ports, and tankers, is positioning itself as a quiet yet influential force in the energy sector.
