Doha: Qatari newspapers on Monday focused on significant achievements in localizing products to promote self-sufficiency and reduce reliance on imports. They also emphasized the Ministry of Sports and Youth's newly launched strategy, aimed at fulfilling the aspirations of Qatari youth.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Raya's editorial highlighted the success of Qatar's initiatives to localize industry and support local products. The government has facilitated the entire process from production to sale, leading to improved volume, quality, and efficiency of local goods. These initiatives aim to foster self-sufficiency and lessen dependence on imports, contributing to the notable growth of local products.
Data from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry indicated an increase in national products, rising from 1,727 in 2023 to 1,815 this year. The number of factories has also grown, from 929 in 2023 to 994 by 2025. The Ministry's goals include diversifying economic sectors and achieving a 3.4% compound annual growth rate in non-oil sectors. It also seeks to attract foreign direct investments to bolster innovation, entrepreneurship, and improve the business environment. Al-Raya underscored Qatar's vision of establishing a comprehensive industrial base to enhance economic leadership and maximize local resources, in alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030.
Al-Watan newspaper discussed Qatar's comprehensive approach to national development, focusing on building human capacity and enhancing individual skills. Qatar National Vision 2030 prioritizes the development of Qatari individuals, recognizing that intellectual and physical growth and talent nurturing are crucial for sustainable development. The Ministry of Sports and Youth's new strategy, under the slogan "Quality Life and Future-Ready Youth," aims to improve health, reduce disease risks, and enhance athletes' performance. It also supports the private sector's role in organizing sports events, developing professionals in sports and youth sectors, and improving sports facilities' operational efficiency.
