Qatari Newspapers Focus on Amir’s Directives and Regional Support

Doha: Qatari newspapers on Monday concentrated their editorials on several significant topics, primarily the directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to convene an extraordinary meeting of the Civil Defense Council. The meeting, led by HE the Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, who also chairs the Civil Defense Council, seeks to assess and evaluate the damages from the interception of Iranian missiles and to ensure compensation for affected citizens and residents.

According to Qatar News Agency, the editorials highlighted Qatar's unwavering support for Lebanon, Palestine, and Syria, emphasizing Qatar's role in providing relief and assistance across the region. Al-Watan commended the effectiveness of Qatar's air defense systems in intercepting the missile attack by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targeting Al-Udeid Air Base. The newspaper noted that the interception prevented casualties, with only limited material damage reported.

Al-Watan further emphasized HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's directives to hold the Civil Defense Council's extraordinary meeting to evaluate the aftermath of the attack and take swift measures to compensate those affected. The paper reaffirmed Qatar's reputation as a nation of safety and security, committed to the protection of both citizens and residents.

The editorials also stressed Qatar's top priority of civilian protection at the national, regional, and international levels. Qatar has adopted a strategy to prevent conflicts, mitigate their consequences, and support mediation and peace-building efforts. These efforts align with Qatar's commitment to international law, including international humanitarian law and the four Geneva Conventions, which are incorporated into Qatari legislation.

Al-Raya focused on Qatar's ongoing support for Lebanon, highlighting its solidarity during crises. This includes launching an airlift of humanitarian aid during recent Israeli aggression and providing assistance during Lebanon's economic crisis, ongoing since 2019. The paper praised the strong relations between Qatar and Lebanon, rooted in mutual respect and shared values, and noted the growth of bilateral ties across various fields.

Al-Raya mentioned Qatar's financial aid to the Lebanese army as part of a broader vision to enhance regional stability and reinforce ties with Arab nations. The paper highlighted the Qatar Fund for Development's collaboration with the Qatar Red Crescent to deliver food aid under the Emergency Response Project, benefiting over 10,000 individuals in Lebanon, including host communities, displaced persons, and Syrian refugees.

In conclusion, Al-Raya affirmed that Qatar's sustained support for Lebanon has significantly impacted thousands of families, with the Lebanese people recognizing and appreciating this long-standing assistance for its positive and lasting effects on their lives.
