The newspaper said that under the directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the International Search and Rescue Group, representative of the Permanent Committee for Rescue, Relief and Humanitarian Aid in the disaster-stricken areas of brotherly and friendly countries, headed on Sunday to the sisterly Kingdom of Morocco to contribute to search and rescue operations following the earthquake that struck several regions and cities in Morocco. Additionally, efforts are underway in Doha to organize relief flights with aid and medical supplies to support rescue and humanitarian response efforts for the brothers there.

The paper emphasized that Qatar has never hesitated to stand by those affected and injured. This is the case with our brothers in Morocco, who are facing a humanitarian disaster with significant impact and ongoing repercussions. Qatar will not delay in lending a helping hand to our brothers in Morocco, who have had white hands in humanitarian work and stood alongside many friendly and sisterly countries in the face of significant challenges and hardships. The people of sisterly Morocco know that Qatar’s assistance will not be delayed.

The Qatari daily also expressed confidence in the ability of Morocco to overcome this ordeal with the wisdom of its leadership, the concerted efforts of its government agencies and official institutions, and the cohesion of its people, who have set great examples of patience in the face of adversity. Brothers in Morocco sent aid caravans from various Moroccan regions to the earthquake-affected areas.

In conclusion, Al-Raya underlined Qatar’s support for its brothers until Morocco returns to its normal state of security, safety, love for life, and productivity, commending the quick response of the Moroccan authorities and the voluntary popular efforts, which serve as a model for professional handling of disasters and crises.

The nation is committed to helping people affected by all types of crises wars, earthquakes, floods and other natural disasters through humanitarian assistance, while abiding by the principles of impartiality and neutrality.

Under the headline “Lending a helping hand”, the newspaper said that Qatar provided prompt aid for those affected by the tsunami in Indonesia and devastating earthquakes in Turkiye and Syria, Pakistan, China, Haiti and others, adding that from 2012 until June 2019, Qatar had provided aid worth $6.75 billion to more than 100 countries around the world. The country supports the pioneering role of UN agencies and international organisations in areas of development and humanitarian aid.

The paper pointed out that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani has directed sending rescue teams and urgent medical assistance to Morocco to help with the relief efforts after the earthquake that struck several Moroccan cities and provinces late on Friday, killing over 2,000 people and injuring many more.
