Qatari Newspapers Criticize Israel’s Genocidal War and Conditional Suspension of Mediation Efforts.

Doha: Qatari newspapers highlighted in their editorials Sunday an array of topics, most notably the announcement on Qatar's conditional suspension of its mediation efforts between Hamas and Israel, and its emphasis that it will not accept that the mediation becomes a reason for blackmailing it, in light of the manipulation and backtracking on the commitments that were agreed upon through mediation. According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatari dailies condemned the genocidal war waged by Israel on the Gaza Strip, and the massive destruction and famine that has killed dozens of children and elderly people, in one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world. In its editorial titled "Qatari Mediation and Seriousness of Parties," Al-Sharq regretted that after 400 days of Israel's genocidal war in the Gaza Strip, which claimed the lives of over 43 thousand Palestinians, the majority of whom were children and women, no signs are in sight of an end to the most barbaric and hideous aggression that the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip have been subjected to, in violation of all human values, international covenants and norms. In this context, Al-Sharq noted Qatar's conditional suspension of its mediation efforts between Hamas and Israel, and its emphasis that it will not accept that the mediation becomes a reason for blackmailing it, pointing to manipulation and backtracking on the obligations that were agreed upon through mediation, and exploiting the continuation of negotiations to justify the continuation of the war to serve narrow political purposes. In light of the absence of sincere political will, deliberate international inaction and the failure of the Security Council to implement its resolution to cease fire in the Gaza Strip, the ongoing war of extermination in Gaza for the 400th day will remain a stain on the international legitimacy, whose credibility has been severely damaged, shaking confidence in the usefulness and effectiveness of the international system. The State of Qatar reiterated its firm commitment to be at the forefront of making every good effort to end the war and return the hostages and prisoners in the event there was seriousness to end the brutal war and the ongoing suffering of civilians, based on its belief in peaceful resolution of disputes as one of its foreign policy's main priorities, Al-Sharq concluded. In its editorial titled "Barbaric War," Al-Watan said that death toll from the Israeli genocide against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip has surged to 43,552 martyrs since October 7, 2023, in addition to 102,765 wounded, while thousands remain under the rubble and on the streets inaccessible to rescue teams. The genocidal war waged by Israel on Gaza has also caused massive destruction and famine that has killed dozens of children and elderly people, in one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution to end it immediately, and the orders of the International Court of Justice to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and impro ve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza, Al-Watan added. Israel has committed war crimes and crimes against humanity, yet the international community remains silent, which is extremely surprising after more than a year of this barbaric, hideous war, Al-Watan concluded.
