Doha: Al-Watan newspaper has strongly criticized the Israeli Prime Minister's statements about the "Greater Israel Vision," condemning them as a violation of regional unity and independence. Al-Watan emphasized Qatar's position against these statements, viewing them as an extension of the occupation's approach that disregards the sovereignty of states and international law.
According to Qatar News Agency, the editorial in Al-Watan warned of potentially dangerous developments in the region unless the international community acts decisively to uphold international legitimacy resolutions. These resolutions include establishing an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital and ensuring Syrian sovereignty over the Golan Heights.
Meanwhile, Al-Arab highlighted Qatar's significant diplomatic role in resolving regional and international conflicts. The newspaper noted the remarks of Dr. Ibrahim Saleh Al Naimi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID), who praised Qatar's diplomatic efforts in promoting interfaith dialogue and peaceful coexistence through education.
The editorial also recognized the initiatives led by HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, through the Education Above All Foundation, which has provided educational opportunities to millions of children worldwide despite numerous challenges.
In a related development, the Peninsula newspaper reported on the renewed efforts to mediate a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel amid ongoing violence in the Gaza Strip. The newspaper noted that Qatar, along with Egypt and the United States, has played a pivotal role in these mediation efforts, which have periodically resulted in truces and the release of detainees.
The editorial emphasized the urgency for the international community to take decisive action to halt the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
