Qatari Editorials Condemn Israeli Incursions into Islamic Holy Sites

Doha: Qatari newspapers unanimously condemned in their Monday editorials the ongoing provocative Israeli incursions into Islamic holy sites, including the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron and the ongoing incursions into the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, the latest of which was the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by the Israeli Minister of Security Itamar Ben-Gvir under the protection of the Israeli police. This is a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, and an unacceptable provocation and escalation condemned in its entirety.

According to Qatar News Agency, the newspapers agreed that these Israeli incursions are a clear disregard for the historical and legal status quo at Al-Aqsa Mosque, an attempt to divide it temporally and spatially, and a desecration of its sanctity. This is a dangerous escalation that the international community must never tolerate, given the serious repercussions that could result from such acts.

Al-Sharq newspaper said that from the ongoing genocidal war in the Gaza Strip for 22 months, and the humanitarian catastrophe reaching an unprecedented stage of siege and famine, to the Israeli occupations violation of the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and even the provocative violations of Islamic sanctities, whether those related to the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron or the continuous incursions into the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, the latest of which was carried out by the far-right Minister of National Security in the Israeli entity's government Ben-Gvir, Netanyahu's government continues its colonial plans that fall within the framework of an official Israeli policy aimed at eliminating the Palestinian cause and the rights of the Palestinian people.

The provocative marches led by extremist Ben-Gvir, and his participation in the raids on the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, in light of calls by extremist colonial Temple organizations for a large-scale raid on the Al-Aqsa Mosque, are an extension of ongoing violations against Islamic holy sites, with 27 settler incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque in July alone, the newspaper pointed out.

Al-Sharq explained that the State of Qatar has repeatedly warned against the occupation's repeated attempts to undermine the religious and historical status of Al-Aqsa Mosque, considering that this represents an insistence on aggression against the Palestinian people and a provocation of the feelings of more than two billion Muslims around the world.

Qatar also continued to warn of the serious repercussions of the escalating policy the Israeli entity is adopting in the occupied Palestinian territories, including the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip, and the repercussions of all this on international peace and security, in addition to undermining efforts to implement the two-state solution, the paper stressed.

In the same context, Al-Watan newspaper said that international rules and laws were established to protect civilians in armed conflicts, and they apply equally to all parties. However, Gaza is an exception, and its innocent civilian population has become targets in one of the most brutal wars ever.

The list of accusations against Israel includes starving civilians in Gaza, failing to protect them during military operations that resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent people, in addition to the indiscriminate destruction of entire cities, and the unprecedented violation of holy sites, the newspaper pointed out. The latest of these acts was the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by the Israeli Minister of Security Ben-Gvir, under the protection of the Israeli police, in a blatant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, and an unacceptable provocation and escalation that is condemned in every detail.

Al-Watan viewed these incursions as a disregard for the historical and legal status quo at Al-Aqsa Mosque, an attempt to divide it temporally and spatially, and a desecration of its sanctity.

The newspaper concluded by warning that this is a dangerous escalation that the international community must never tolerate, given the serious repercussions that could result from such acts.
