Qatari Editorials Condemn Israeli Attack and Highlight Clean Energy Initiatives

Doha: In their editorials on Wednesday, Qatari newspapers addressed a range of topics, focusing mainly on HE Minister of State for International Cooperation Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad’s statement during an emergency session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.

According to Qatar News Agency, Her Excellency emphasized that the treacherous Israeli attack, which resulted in casualties, including the martyrdom of a Qatari citizen, constitutes not only a blatant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the State of Qatar, but also a grave breach of fundamental human rights.

The newspapers stressed that, under the wise leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the State has united the voice of the Arab and Islamic world and embodied a unified stance in confronting the Israeli entity.

On the domestic front, Qatari newspapers highlighted the country’s ambitious strategy in transitioning toward clean energy, particularly solar energy. It noted QatarEnergy’s signing of an agreement with Samsung C and T Engineering and Construction Group to build a new world-class solar power plant in the Dukhan area, as well as to further develop the Dukhan Solar Power Plant.

In its editorial, Al-Raya newspaper said that the treacherous Israeli aggression against Qatar was not just a targeted attack on the country itself, but an attack on all of humanity. Israeli terrorism has crossed every boundary, striking in broad daylight the peaceful city of Doha, which plays a mediating role in ending the war on Gaza at the request of both the US and Israel itself. The newspaper questioned if anyone could have imagined that the extremist and criminal Israeli government would bomb and target those it is negotiating with, threatening the safety of thousands of unarmed civilians in Qatar.

Al-Raya noted that Qatar has taken action on multiple fronts to expose to the world the reality of this criminal entity, which kills and betrays even those it negotiates with. The editorial concluded by reaffirming that Qatar has always been a beacon of peace and a symbol of human wisdom. Unfortunately, the country has now been targeted despite playing a crucial mediating role to broker a ceasefire in Gaza. Targeting the mediator, the paper noted, is an attack on the very principle of negotiation and a deliberate attempt to sabotage peace efforts. This attack, it stressed, was not an isolated incident but part of a broader campaign aimed at undermining Qatar’s role and disrupting its diplomatic initiatives, stressing that the international community must seize this moment of solidarity with Qatar to hold the criminal entity accountable for its actions, as it continuously seeks to drag the region into chaos.

In its editorial, Al-Sharq newspaper emphasized that the positions expressed during the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit regarding the treacherous Israeli attack on the State of Qatar, as well as the statement issued by the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) during its extraordinary session held in Doha, embodied the spirit of solidarity and a unified Arab and Islamic stance in confronting the brutal aggression carried out by the occupying entity against Qatar. The newspaper explained that, under the wise leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the State succeeded in uniting the voice of the Arab and Islamic nations, reflecting a shared position in the face of the Israeli entity. This stance, it noted, stems from Qatar’s deep belief in Arab and Islamic unity and the need to safeguard regional stability. The final statement issued by the summit clearly reflected this unity of voice across the region and the unprecedented solidarity with Qatar in confronting the arrogance of t
he occupying power.

The editorial concluded by noting that the strength of the message of solidarity that came from the Arab-Islamic Summit and the Supreme Council of the GCC will echo throughout the world for a long time, especially in light of the unity shown in the Doha meetings, at the Gulf, Arab, and Islamic levels, and the determination to confront the aggressive policies of the Israeli entity, hold it accountable, ensure its compliance with international law, and prevent it from escaping punishment.
