QatarEnergy Awards EPC Contract for North Field West Project

Doha: QatarEnergy has announced the awarding of the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the onshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant of the North Field West (NFW) project. This project is a critical component of the world's largest LNG expansion and is the last in a series of expansion projects poised to elevate Qatar's production capacity to 142 million tons per annum (MTPA).

According to Qatar News Agency, Qatar Museums has successfully inscribed three additional significant Qatari heritage sites on the Heritage List of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ICESCO). This achievement underscores Qatar's ongoing dedication to preserving and promoting its cultural legacy on both regional and international platforms.

A delegation from the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) recently visited the Republic of Seychelles to evaluate the progress and community impact of the housing units project in the Glacis region. The project stands as one of the Seychelles' most prominent social housing initiatives.

In another development, the University of Doha for Science and Technology's Continuing and Professional Education Directorate is offering a specialized course titled "Teaching and Learning for the 21st Century." This initiative is part of their community service and professional development efforts, aimed at enhancing the skills of Qatari trainers from key public and private sectors.

Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) in Education City hosted the second meeting of its Industry and Government Advisory Board (IGAB), further strengthening its ties with industry and government sectors.

Msheireb Properties has been recognized at the 2026 SEAL Business Sustainability Awards, winning the Environmental Initiatives Award, highlighting their efforts in sustainability and environmental leadership.

Diplomatic engagements have also been active, with HE Jonathan Chait, Director of the Protocol Department at Mexico's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, receiving the credentials of HE Mohammed bin Sultan Mohammed Al Kuwari as Qatar's Ambassador to Mexico. Meanwhile, HE Sri Lankan Minister Vijitha Herath met with HE Hamad bin Mohammed Al Dosari, Qatar's Ambassador to Sri Lanka, and HE Governor of Istanbul Davut Gul met with HE Dr. Nayef bin Jassim Al Abduljabbar, Qatar's Consul General in Istanbul.

Looking ahead, Qatar is set to celebrate Qatar Environment Day on Thursday, under the theme "Our Behavior Reflects on Our Environment," emphasizing the importance of environmental consciousness.

The National Planning Council's recent survey results indicate a 7% increase in Qatar's Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) positions by the end of the third quarter of 2025, reaching approximately QAR 157 billion, reflecting a positive economic trajectory.

The Zakat Affairs Department at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs has completed preparations to receive Zakat payments through modern digital outlets and onsite collection points, ensuring ease of access for individuals and companies.

Qatar Charity continues its "Feed the Fasting" project, distributing Ramadan food baskets in multiple countries as part of its "Good Starts With You" campaign, supported by Qatari donors.

Finally, a record turnout of Qatari children participated in the 31st Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani Holy Quran Competition, demonstrating a strong societal commitment to Quranic memorization and education. Additionally, the Qatar Football Association participated in the Sixth Meeting of the AFC Financial Committee in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
