Qatar University’s College of Sharia Achieves International Accreditation from IAA


Doha: The College of Sharia and Islamic Studies at Qatar University (QU) has proudly announced the attainment of international academic accreditation for its undergraduate programs from the Islamic Sciences Accreditation Agency (IAA). This prestigious recognition is set to span three years starting in September 2025, underscoring the college’s dedication to maintaining high-quality standards and academic excellence.



According to Qatar News Agency, QatarDebate Center, a part of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, recently hosted its second debate panel themed “From Dream to Reality: Qatar’s Entrepreneurs Journey.” Meanwhile, Qatar Charity and Misr El Kheir Foundation have renewed their framework agreement, initially signed in 2024.



In infrastructure developments, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with a consortium led by Qatar’s UCC Holding, valued at over USD 4 billion, to revamp Damascus International Airport to align with global standards, as stated by Omar Al Hussari, Chairman of the Syrian General Authority of Civil Aviation.



The Center for Legal and Judicial Studies at the Ministry of Justice is actively conducting training programs for legal professionals across various ministries and government agencies. Furthermore, Qatar Railways Company successfully concluded the second edition of the “Back-to-School” event at Sport City – Station on the Doha Metro’s Gold Line, and announced the resumption of its school visits program across the Doha Metro network.



Hamad Bin Khalifa University is set to host a conference to explore the global ethical implications of AI technologies, while the Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities, together with Qatar Media Corporation and Qatar Press Center, launched an awareness workshop titled “Media and the Positive Image of Persons with Disabilities,” at the Diplomatic Club.



In a meeting between Qatar Chamber’s Industry Committee and the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting, discussions were held to develop a mechanism connecting factories with research and development centers and universities in Qatar. Meanwhile, the Qatar Stock Exchange index experienced a slight decline, closing Wednesday with a decrease of 41.20 points or 0.37 percent.



Estithmar Holding announced a second semi-annual profit distribution for its Qatari Riyal-denominated sukuk, with an annual profit rate of 8.75%, while Qatar National Library hosted an event titled “In the Footsteps of an Ottoman Traveler: Retracing the Routes of Evliya Celebi,” featuring Turkish travel writer Seymen Bozaslan.



Msheireb Museums, in partnership with the Italian Embassy in Doha, presented the exhibition “MARMO I MARBLE. CARVING THE FUTURE,” and M7 announced “The Global Edit,” an initiative to support designers in the global fashion industry.



In sports news, Al Rayyan SC announced the signing of Brazilian Wesley Gassova from Internacional SC, and Aspetar, Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Iraq Football Association to provide medical and scientific support to the Iraqi national team.



The Qatari national team faced defeat against Saudi Arabia in the Gulf Cup U-20, and the senior national volleyball team is preparing for the World Championship in the Philippines. Qatar also played to a 2-2 draw against Bahrain in a closed-door friendly match as part of preparations for the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
