Qatar University Hosts 8th Taqadam Conference on Leadership and Community Service

Doha: Qatar University has hosted the eighth edition of the annual Taqadam Conference on Leadership and Community Service. The event aims to strengthen students' leadership skills across universities and colleges, promote community service and volunteerism, and provide a platform for dialogue and the exchange of successful initiatives and best practices in the field.

According to Qatar News Agency, the conference highlights the importance of engaging all segments of society - including persons with disabilities - in community development, reinforcing the principles of inclusion and integration. It also offers participants opportunities to interact with experts and specialists in leadership and volunteer work to deepen knowledge and develop initiatives that create a positive and sustainable impact.

In his opening remarks, Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Diab, said the conference targets a wide range of students, including those with disabilities and from various academic disciplines. He noted that this year's edition focuses on developing leadership skills and fostering a spirit of responsibility and active citizenship.

HE Sheikha Dr. Hessa bint Hamad Al-Thani, Founder and Chairperson of the Wellbeing and Career Development Training Center and Assistant Professor at Qatar University's College of Education, spoke about the concept of prophetic leadership and its role in guiding youth toward a good life. She outlined the key pillars of leadership - spirituality, intellect, physical well-being, and social engagement - urging students to apply their knowledge in their daily lives, as these values form the foundation of a well-rounded leader.

The opening ceremony also featured an accompanying exhibition and a series of training workshops, including sessions on leadership through excellence and AI and the stewardship of earth.
